Privacy Policy for Civil Twilight

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Civil Twilight app for iOS and iPadOS. It describes how MPK Tec AB ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the app. It does not govern the MPK Tec website, which has its own separate privacy policy. Civil Twilight is a paid-upfront, local-first planning app for calculated Sun, Moon, twilight, EASA, and FAA time boundaries. Our core principle is to respect your privacy: we have designed the app so that we do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal data.

The provider and data controller for Civil Twilight is:

Information stored on the device

Civil Twilight stores only the information you choose to save, and it stays in the app's local container on your device. It does not use iCloud or CloudKit synchronization. The app stores:

• Saved locations: Locations you explicitly choose to save, including the location's user-facing name, its latitude and longitude, the IANA time-zone identifier when it can be resolved, and the location source metadata the app needs.
• Location management dates: Creation and last-used dates that help you manage your saved locations.
• App preferences: Simple settings such as which result sections are visible, UTC display, appearance, and the active saved location.

Location permission and temporary locations

• The app requests When In Use location permission only after you select the current-position action.
• A GPS coordinate is used to show results but is not saved unless you explicitly confirm Save Location.
• A coordinate you select on the map can also be used temporarily without saving it. Temporary locations are not restored on the next launch.
• Civil Twilight does not maintain a location history and does not perform background location tracking.
• You can deny or later revoke location permission and continue using map selection and saved locations.

Apple Maps and reverse geocoding

Astronomical calculations run locally on your device and do not require an MPK Tec server. However, Apple MapKit map tiles and Apple's reverse-geocoding service may require a network connection. A coordinate may therefore be processed by Apple to display maps, suggest a place name, or resolve a time zone. MPK Tec does not receive those requests or their results. Your use of these Apple services is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Support contact and voluntary correspondence

Tapping the support-email action opens your mail client. MPK Tec receives only the information you voluntarily send by email and uses it solely to respond to your request. Opening the MPK Tec website leaves the app and is governed by the website's separate privacy policy.

Data sharing and tracking

Civil Twilight has:

• no user accounts or login;
• no MPK Tec backend for app data;
• no advertising;
• no analytics or behavioral profiling;
• no tracking or cross-app tracking;
• no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs;
• no sale of personal data;
• no sharing of your saved locations with MPK Tec;
• no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paywall;
• no iCloud or CloudKit synchronization.

Retention and deletion

• Locally saved locations remain until you delete them in the app or remove the app and its data from the device.
• App preferences remain until you change them, reset the app's data, or remove the app.
• Location permission can be revoked at any time in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
• Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, meet legal obligations, and protect legitimate business interests.

User choices and rights

Because Civil Twilight keeps your data on your device, you remain in control of it at all times: you can add, edit, or delete saved locations, change preferences, and grant or revoke location permission. You may contact [email protected] to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data that you voluntarily provided directly to MPK Tec, such as support correspondence.

Children's privacy

Civil Twilight is not specifically directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children through the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date above. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
